Day 12 - 5th May 2012
We're Home !!!!
Left Carmila a bit after 0700 and headed for home. Had smoko at the 'Driver Reviver' at Bowen and lunch (sangas) at Pioneer Park turn off at Brandon.
No photos today - just driving.
Over 12 days, we covered 3364 km and 1350 songs on my iPod. Took 1024 photos and 40 mins of video.
It's been a sensational trip which has certainly whet our appetite for our "WANTS" (West Aust and Northern Territory Somewhere) tour in July/August.
Only 9 weeks away - counting the sleeps. Got a few little improvements to make on our rig in the meantime so our weekends between now and then will be spent doin' a bitta this and a bitta that.
Tune into this same site for our account of that journey.

Day 11 - 4th May 2012
Today we got away from Agnes at around 0800 and headed up the coast. With a small stop over at Rocky for Fuel and some supplies at Bunnings, we motored on to Carmila. We found a small plot of sand at Carmila Beach. Arrived at a bit after 1500. Our intention is to stay for one night and head home tomorrow.
Given the long weekend, it's pretty busy here - lots of campers, tents and caravans. The tide is out at least a km - very long beach.
I got a couple of shots this afternoon on the beach.

Days 9/10 - 2nd/3rd May 2012
For the last 2 days, we've been pulled up at Workman's Beach camping ground on the outskirts of Agnes Water. The camping ground is a nice little spot run by the Gladstone Council. Done nothing but chill out and have a look around the place. 1770 is a small settlement to the north of here about 6 km. It's not really what I expected in that it is basically a pub, marina, caravan park, beach and some place for the rich people to build holiday homes perched on prime real estate overlooking the ocean. The camping ground seems to be a regular haunt for some old fellas from Bundy and Gladstone. The old fellow next door comes here from Bundy when work is a bit slack. He's a self employed concrete renderer. He says the industry is as slow as he's ever seen it. Nice old fella. We invited him and another bloke over for some damper for lunch and a chat.
Sunset over the beach yesterday afternoon.

Day 8 - 1st May 2012
We got an early getaway from Granite Creek (about 0600) - destination Workman's Beach Camping Ground near Agnes Water. On the way in from Miriamvale, we took a diversion into Eurimbula National Park. The sign said the road ahead was 4WD only and not suitable for caravans. They weren't kidding! After about an hour to traverse 14.5km, we finally arrived at the camping ground. The road started out very rough and rocky to corrugated and then sandy and then the very narrow track became cosy to say the least. Slow and steady got us here. Definitely worth the effort. We have a spot about 100m from the beach but firmly nestled in the bush - sensational spot. Lots of bird life, wallabies and goannas roaming around. The place is named 'Bustard Bay' by one James Cook when he anchored the Endeavour in this bay in May 1770. Joseph Banks collected several species of plants from the area on his onshore excursion.
Today is our 30th Anniversary and what a beautiful place to spend it.
We finished the day with wine (and iced tea) and cheese on the beach under the sunset.
