Clermont 01/10/2022

On Saturday, we took to the road out to explore the Peak Range NP in the surrounds of Clermont, Dysart and Moranbah - all visible from far and wide across the relatively flat plains of the Central Highlands.

First stop - Lord's Table Mountain.  From my many years of living and working in this region, this was my first opportunity to get up close and spend some time taking in the truck loads of awesomeness.

Anvil Peak - southern end of Table Mountain

2/3 of our travel crew - Casey, Charlotte, Terry and Kim

We then tracked back past fields of wheat and sorghum to Clermont before heading east along the Peak Downs Highway.

Next stop - Gemini Peaks for a bite to eat and look around...

This collectively 'unusual' formation was given its name by members of our travel party which I won't repeat.  What would you call it?

Next stop - the iconic Wolfang Peak.  Probably the most well known feature of the central highlands around Clermont.  I've made many images of the peak over the years but just had to give it another go while I'm here - right?

So that filled up Saturday!

Later that day, more family (Scott, Bree and the kids) rocked up for an overnighter on their way to Townsville for a surprise visit to Judy's parents.  The surprise component has already occurred so it's OK to mention it here now.

Saturday evening, we all (baker's dozen) gathered at the Leo Hotel for dinner before heading off on Sunday for home.

Started to feel a little off on the journey home and by Monday morning - much worse!  Did a COVID test and yep, Judy and I were both positive!  Altogether, six of us have been struck down and currently isolating since arriving home.

Bit of a 'shitty' end to a great trip down memory road.

I still feel the need to return to the old stomping ground and definitely will even if it's just to have a cuppa with Mum and Dad on the banks of Sandy Creek.
