Since my previous post, we have been visiting family in Longreach and Toowoomba.
Arrived in Longreach on Friday, 24th Feb and pitched our 'tent' in the backyard of Charlotte and Craig. Terry and Kim (my brother and sister-in-law) arrived same day.
Charlotte and Craig moved to Longreach to take up new positions early in the new year. Charlotte is a nurse at the hospital and Craig is a paramedic with the QAS.
On Tuesday last, Judy and I moved on towards Toowoomba with an overnight stopover at Neil Turner Weir at Mitchell - a donation site for weary travelers on the banks of the Maranoa River. There were a few fellow campers at this place - more than expected as we've not seen a lot of travelers on the road since leaving home.

Quite a novel sight at the entrance to Blackall along the way south

We planned an early getaway next morning as we still had another 6 hr drive to Toowoomba. However, I still had time to grab a few shots at dawn before our departure at around 0600. |

A few locals out at dawn

The drive along the Warrego Highway to Toowoomba was noticeably busier than we'd experienced over the past week from Townsville.

The contrasting textures, colours and patterns of the sorghum and cotton fields drew me to this image
