Hunter, Central North Coast, NSW - 12 to 13/01/2024

Heading southward 300-500km at a time, we left Coffs Harbour around 6:00am.  I must say - coming from North Queensland, I'm enjoying driving the  Pacific Highway.  Just so much less stress towing a van with the added bonus of the reduced fuel consumption not having to be on and off the pedal as much on the dual lane highway.

We find ourselves parked up at 12 Mile Creek (Australian Motor Home Caravan Park).

Large drive through bays are generous for room

We're here for 2 nights.  After setting up, we put on our tourist hats and took a drive around the nearby Port Stephens coastline - Anna Bay, Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Salamander Bay and Boat Harbour.  Treated ourselves to a nice bistro lunch at the Crest Birubi Beach pub.

Today, we took a trip into Newcastle for some supplies and a look around.  We dropped into the 'Bogey Hole' which is a popular spot for a dip in the ocean.  Quite the spectacle!  Also known as Commandant's Baths, it's a heritage listed sea bath constructed by convicts under the orders of the Commandant of Newcastle about 1820, for his personal use.

I got to test out my new knee on the many stairs down to my vantage point but pulled up short of the whole way down.

I finally had a chance to pull out the camera and capture some of the sights of the area over the past couple of days...
